Builders Architectural - Rehab |
Builders Architectural is the only window/glass/curtainwall contractor equally adept in new
construction and rehab. In window rehab, generally consisting of window replacement, a different set of
parameters come into play compared to new construction. Most noticeably, the buildings where we
replace windows are often occupied and, of course, they exist. Therefore the existing conditions must be
carefully understood, measured and managed with for a successful retrofit and the occupants must be
carefully worked with for successful job flow.
At Builders Architectural, we possess in-depth knowledge of many types of building
construction used in prior times and therefore have the most experienced and creative solutions for
working with existing conditions.
When the Field Museum of Natural History needed all new windows on their famous and historic facade,
they contacted Builders Architectural Products for our in-depth expertise. We created a solution for the
Museum which involved all new aluminum extruded frames contoured to historically replicate the
existing wooden frames and added over 440 cast aluminum grilles which will permanently replace the
previously existing wooden "square wagon wheel ornamentation" on the building.
On the Civic Opera Building, relatively straightforward from a technical standpoint, we took on the
challenge of installing a total of 40 truck loads of over 3500 windows with 120 different sizes perfectly scheduled and sequenced
to be installed at a rate of 16 windows per day while the building was tightly occupied. Our stable of
highly trained and experienced workmen perfectly complimented the upfront technical expertise our
customers receive in the design phase of the project.
